Inmate texting apps are a great method to stay in contact with a loved one or friend who is currently in jail. These apps are designed to be in compliance with prison rules and permit family and friends to send messages, photos, video calls, eCards and money to their trust accounts at prison. There are also federal inmate apps which offer additional services such as video visits and phone calls.
The JPay application, for example allows family and friends to transfer money into the trust account of an inmate along with photos, email as well as eCards, video grams and more. Another popular texting app for inmates is GettingOut It provides "simple and reliable communication" between inmates and their loved ones. The app is available at selected correctional facilities that allow inmates to upload images and text messages to family members and friends on their tablets. It costs inmates $0.25 for each message, and loved ones pay for the data used to view their messages (but not for explicit pictures). You can also use the GettingOut app to share pictures on Facebook or Foursquare and check in on Foursquare and add a video to upload to YouTube upload.
